I never win anything. I am pretty lucky in life, but in terms of competitions I'm not generally the one holding up the ticket at the raffle and shouing, 'It's mine! It's mine!' I did once win a case of Walkers crisps, but to be honest my dad wrote the winning slogan for me. I ate all the crisps though (in about a week).
When George at Asda contacted me and asked me to take part in an Easter blogging competiton, I gave it a go because I thought it would be fun. I really enjoy blogging, and the little opportunities that pop up from time to time are a nice cherry on the top of it. In this case they were offering a £20 budget to dress your child up in an Easter Sunday outfit and take photographs. I had fun choosing, photographing and posting it all and thorougly enjoyed it. There were 14 others bloggers besides me invited to participate, and when all the posts were up, we had to vote.
The other bloggers were Mummy from the Heart, Madhouse Family Reviews, Me and My Shadow, Not Even a Bag of Sugar, Milk Chic, The Hart of the Munchkin Patch, Mellow Mummy, Mari's World, Multiple Mummy, Mummy Musings, Mummy Vs Work, Juggle Mum, Bloggomy and Inside the Wendy House and the posts were all so good. I enjoyed reading them all and found some new favourite blogs to add to my (ever-increasing) weekly reading list!
With such quality competition, I didn't expect to win at all - but I did! I checked my e-mails on my phone in the line at the supermarket and had to stop myself shrieking when I saw my name listed as the winner! Unaccustomed as I am to winning stuff, I don't really know what to say, except thank you. Thank you to George but also thank you to the other bloggers for voting for me. I'm really honoured and so very pleased that people who know far more about blogging than I do actually liked my post and voted for it. I haven't stopped smiling since.
If they knew what I was on about, I'd thank my beautiful baby Eilidh for being such a funny, sweet little subject for my post and my lovely little boy for the part he played too. You two make me feel like a winner every single day.
I think this is the bit where I break down weeping and start thanking my parents for always being there for me and get escorted off the stage by two burly gentlemen as the music plays to deafen my sobs, so instead I'm off to do a bit of online browsing now and plan how to spend my lovely prize vouchers...! Hooray for blogging - and thank you again.
Well done and happy spending !
